Surviving wedding season ... on a budget!
It’s that time of year — your refrigerator is adorned with Save the Dates. You’ve sent back your RSVPs (hopefully before their ‘please respond by’ dates). You’ve been practicing your dance moves for songs like “Shout” and the “Electric Slide.” That’s right; it’s WEDDING SEASON.
I wouldn’t proclaim myself as the expert wedding guest, but last year I did manage to attend 17 ceremonies! I coined this as “The Summer of Weddings.” As springtime rolls around, it’s apparent that I’ll be spending more summer nights celebrating love!
Weddings are great; it’s an opportunity to share in very special moments with your family and friends. However, if you’re like me, it also can be a time where you find yourself standing in front of your closet uttering the words “What am I going to wear?” or “How many more times can I wear this dress to an event?”
Alas, I give you a Pro Tip from a survivor of the summer of weddings: SHOP GOODWILL.
I absolutely love getting dressed up, but the practicality of purchasing a new dress for each event, at a high retail price, just doesn’t make sense to my pocket book. Goodwill offers an affordable and endless possibility to reflect your style. You can put together a beautiful outfit to wear without doing serious damage to your bank account. (You can give an even better gift off the registry).
So, if you find yourself wondering what you’ll wear to an upcoming event, simply head out to your local Goodwill, and while you’re out, make sure to drop off that RSVP in the mailbox ;)
This wedding look features a TAHARI Arthur S. Levine wrap-style dress, which is flattering on literally everyone. It retails for $128 and I purchased it for just $5.00 at the Millpond store in Lexington.
I completed this look with a glow stick (a wedding reception stable – ‘let love glow’) and my handsome wedding date, who is also my fiancé (not available at your local Goodwill)! 😉
