#ThriftyThursday: Plaid, shoulder pads + waist knots = work week babe
#ThriftyThursday: For thrifters who are on the job search – this one is for you! Goodwill’s racks are a great alternative to business professional retailers. While it’s important to look sharp, being financially aware is so important! This week I have put together a look that will help build your resume without breaking the bank, just less than $22 WITH accessories from your local Goodwill!
Starting off with the obvious, every career quest calls for a blazer. The Limited has been a favorite brand of mine for professional wear for the past few years because of its high quality and unique sense of style. This plaid blazer is so unique, mixing navy, red wine, and black for a petite tailored cut. It’s business professional with an edge. (I’m a BIG fan!) I snagged this dress jacket from the Bardstown location, and you can sport your favorite too for just $6.29!
A swing dress is powerful because it can transition from event to event. This black Old Navy cotton long-sleeve has so much flare! I love knotting it in the front; this is so trendy, making any dress a tunic or top! I found this item at the Georgetown location for just $5.29. Tip: Don’t be afraid to purchase something oversized if you plan to tie or restructure items.
I featured this quilted Betsey Johnson tote a while back, but it’s the classic “work bag.” I purchased it in perfect condition for just $15.99 at the Fern Creek location (Louisville). It has four pockets and a deep structure to hold a laptop, planner, make-up, and any other necessities! Tip: A large tote for all your work-week must-have’s is a necessity.
To shadow the tones of the blazer, I finished the look with my go-to Ann Taylor flats and a black scarf. These quilted maroon shoes match the undertones PERFECTLY (I’m telling you these are the best shoes ever!) and were just $3.99 at the Murray location. My cotton scarf was just $1.79 from the New Circle location (Lexington).
Work wear does not have to be dull and boring. With Goodwill’s variety and The Good Life to reference, you can spice up your 9-to-5 with plaid and a side knot!
