A thrifter's holiday gift guide

Shopping for the perfect gift is never easy. People that you love want you to spend your money wisely. This holiday season I’ve compiled a gift guide of the best Goodwill presents you can give!

  • Original-tagged items

  • I often find items at Goodwill that still have their original tags attached! I suggest looking at the “special priced” rack first and the glass case near the register, then moving throughout the store. Taking time to look is worth it! I have faith that you will find great deals and guarantee the recipient of your gift will be grateful and impressed with your thrifting skills!

  • Vintage/collectable items

  • Many people shop for vintage items to add to their collection. It’s common for glassware, dolls, unique trinkets, and woodwork pieces to be popular collectibles. If your loved one has a something special, make their holiday and add a thrifted piece to their assortment.

  • Goodwill gift certificate

  • Everyone loves a gift certificate, even more so when it’s for Goodwill! You may purchase a certificate in increments of $5, $10, and $20. A certificate is valid at any of our 64 locations. (

The holidays are such a happy time! By purchasing gifts at Goodwill, you’re giving so much more than just a present under the tree.

our history

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Louisville since 1923. Goodwill gives people up—not a handout—so they can experience the dignity and independence that comes from earning a paycheck.

our mission

We help people with disabilities or other disadvantages achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life.

what we do

Goodwill collects and sells donated items to fund programs for Kentuckians who have disabilities or other challenges in finding and maintaining traditional employment. On-the-job training, job preparation skills, and employment counseling are just a few of Goodwill's services that benefit thousands of adults each year and strengthen families in Kentucky's communities.
