Trick-or-treat: DIY Halloween costumes for the win
Halloween is the time to let your creative juices flow and take a risk! Goodwill has clothing, accessories, and all the inspiration you need to trick-or-treat and win “Best Costume!”
When I was in the third and fourth grade, I won the fall festival Halloween costume contest back-to-back years. My mom and I spent weeks shopping at Goodwill to complete my “Grandpa” and “Granny” disguise. While other kids wore pre-made costumes, both of mine were so special! (I have never found pictures otherwise I would share. It really was hilarious!)
Halloween preparation is in full-swing, and the trending list of this year’s costume ideas is in! Goodwill loves shoppers’ original ideas and sharing the thrifty motivation. Goodwill is hosting a fall-themed fashion show Saturday, October 7 at the Ring Road location (Elizabethtown). Models have prepared unique costumes, including those on the featured list! Here is a sneak peek:

Gina as Holly Golightly, (think Breakfast at Tiffany’s)

Addi as a rockstar
Other favorites include: Wonder Woman or Superman, Baywatch, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and a 1950s Hollywood singer.
If you’re not convinced that thrifting your costume is the way to go, I promise you this: your costume will be much more creative, cost-effective, and you’ll remember it for the rest of your life! (I mean, Grandpa and Granny are two of my favorite childhood stories.) Halloween is about creating memories; let Goodwill play a part!
Best,
A
