#ThriftyThursday: Ruffles and lace jazz up DIY shorts

June 15, 2017

#ThriftyThursday: I am a ruffles and lace kind of girl – even when it comes to jean shorts! This #ThriftyThursday, I tested my design skills by doing this one at home.

My Maison Jules ruffled blouse has the sweetest stripes. I love its hi-low hem and cotton material. A casual top, it pairs perfectly with these shorts! Rather than spending $49, its retail price, I purchased it for just $3.99 at the new Taylorsville Road location in Louisville.

DIY denim shorts are a must-have for summer! I went to a craft show and found a design I loved. With Goodwill’s variety of jeans, I found the perfect high-waisted pair and cut them to my preferred length! I sewed the lace applique onto the Levi’s with red thread, matching my top. So easy!

Don’t be scared to try something new! Goodwill has the materials to help revamp your home and wardrobe.
