#ThriftyThursday: As luck would have it

January 19, 2017

"Luck is believing you are lucky.” Nothing says, “I am a proud Kentuckian,” more than horseracing-themed wall décor. I found this motivating piece in perfect condition at the Frankfort location for only $3.59.

Year round, people celebrate Bluegrass heritage. Kentuckians often decorate their kitchens and family rooms with Kentucky Derby glassware and horseshoes. However, designing a rustic styled home in a southern or horseracing theme can be pricey.  A similar piece to my find would normally retail for $30 or more. Taking your ideas to Goodwill may decrease costs and encourage creativity!

I have shopped at a variety of locations (especially those in Louisville) that had vintage Derby mint julep cups, Keeneland ware, and horseshoe home décor on shelves. Shifting through unique merchandise and looking for items that coordinate with the room’s theme can add personality to any empty wall space.

This #ThriftyThursday grabs my attention when entering my apartment. I love the positivity this find brings. Inspiring myself to believe beyond the luck of the draw, I find a deeper message and a sense of Kentucky pride.

Best,

A
