#ThriftyThursday: Winter's cape cut

December 1, 2016

#ThriftyThursday: Coming back into the fashion scene, cape-styled outfits are making a debut this season. Capes flatter any figure. The runway is rocking cape dresses, sweaters, and coats in a variety of colors, prints, and fabrics.

Cut for a petite fit, I snagged this chic Gap cape at the Radcliff location. My Goodwill find is of winter wool and cinched at the waist. Chocolate-colored undertones highlight the plaid’s navy base. With a folded collar and coordinating buttons, this cape is versatile in its appearance.

Loving this look, I paired my fashion-forward cape with a pair of thrifted American Eagle jeans (Glasgow location), Old Navy two-toned flats (New Circle location), and matching bangles (Bellerive Road location).

Capes are for creativity. For a day in the office, a cape may match well with dress slacks and pointed-toe heels. Thrift yourself a cape and design the outfit however you see best fit. You will be debuting on your own runway.

Best,
