#ThriftyThursday: Mom's tradition

#ThriftyThursday: For years, my mom has treasured her family’s quilt collection. To display her family history, she shops Goodwill stores for quilt rack shelves.

A typical quilt rack may range from $15 to $60 in a department store. However, the pictured rack was found at the Taylorsville Road in Louisville location for less than $10. The Goodwill find was originally a shade of beige, but after a white paint job, it matched my mom’s quilt perfectly.

After retouching its appearance, the rack was posted, the quilt was draped, and my mom’s lighthouse collection was placed on the top shelf.

The moral of this Thrifty Thursday is to shop local Goodwill stores when working on your DIY projects. Not only will you save money on unique items, but you’ll also be supporting a worthy cause.

Best,

A
