Trick-or-treat: Goodwill's costume goodies

I love Halloween. Now that it is off my chest, I may confess that the spooky holiday is by far this Goodwill guru’s favorite celebration. There are few things I love more than searching local Goodwill stores for a creative costume and passing out candy from my thrifted trick-or-treat bag.

Whether you have been planning for weeks or wait until just hours before, your nearest Goodwill is full of pieces to design the perfect Halloween get-up. Chances are, Goodwill may have exactly what you need: a white Oxford for a Clark Kent look, a ball gown to become a zombie bride, or a red polo to channel Jake From State Farm. With new inventory every day, you are bound to find a one-of-a-kind costume for the special occasion.

One Halloween, I dressed up as Barbie for my friend’s costume party. Knowing exactly what I needed to identify as the famous blond bombshell, I took my task to Goodwill. Of course I found exactly what I was looking for: a white bangle, a wide black belt, and a fully-sequined, hot pink semiformal.

This October, Goodwill is challenging you to thrift your Halloween costume, and submit your photo online. You have a chance to win Goodwill gift certificates in one of three categories!

Take the time to visit your favorite Goodwill stores; your Halloween costume is waiting for you!

Best,

A

our history

our mission

We help people with disabilities or other disadvantages achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life.

what we do

Goodwill collects and sells donated items to fund programs for Kentuckians who have disabilities or other challenges in finding and maintaining traditional employment.
