Goodwill Industries of Kentucky hosted its first-ever fashion show Saturday, August 27 at Lexington’s New Circle location. “The Good Life…In Color” featured a runway cast of eight local Goodwill shoppers and their colorful trendy finds. Lauren Gawthrop, WTVQ news anchor and Goodwill supporter, emceed the event.
The show consisted of three segments: warm, cool, and neutral colors. Within each segment, models highlighted personal merchandise that they purchased from local Goodwill stores. Clothing styles varied from casual to business to formal, while outfits were well accessorized. Models shared their favorite finds for a Saturday night out and Monday morning in the office.
The cast of models ranged from students to local fashion bloggers, all who are Goodwill enthusiasts that support the nonprofit’s mission: Tori Abbott, Laney Bailey, Melody Westerfield, Erica Rhodes, Samantha Hughes, Lacy Taylor, Kayla Clark, Kaylee Taylor, and Christian Taylor.
Following the fashion show, photos of each model in their outfits were uploaded to Goodwill’s Facebook page, and followers had the opportunity to vote for their favorite by “liking” the pictures during the five-day contest. Tori Abbott was declared the winner after receiving 790 votes. She won $100 to shop at Goodwill!
“The Good Life…In Color” was an overall success! Stay tuned for related events and participation opportunities in coming months.
