#ThriftyThursday: Fall into favorites

August 18, 2016

#ThriftyThursday: Halloween decorations are already displayed in stores, despite it only being August. While I love the seasonal pumpkin decorations and bags of candy corn, I dread the overwhelming summer-to-fall closet transition.

Packing for college this week has forced me to confront the grueling process. By assessing my favorite summer pieces, I designed Thursday’s fall preview outfit.

This Thursday colors, material, and pearls are in season. I purchased my blouse, skirt, necklace, and shoes at local Goodwill stores (Dixie Highway, Northfield, and Mapleleaf locations), so that I can later match them with jeans, boots, or even a sweater. Summer staples will roll over into fall fundamentals.

My Xhilaration blouse is lightweight with cut out sleeves making it perfect for summertime, while falling into the autumn color palette. Casual shirts that are effortless to dress up are not easy to find; I consider this thrifty find a gem!

American Eagle never disappoints. The chambray skirt pictured was comfortable and practical. Believe it or not, I actually enjoyed wearing it. The Aztec print along the bottom hem walked the talk of it’s friendly cut.

A pristine statement necklace is one hard to pass up when Goodwill shopping. This two-strand pearl necklace is beautifully accented with gold circles, complementing the yellow top and beige thread in the skirt.

I featured my shoes in a previous Thrifty Thursday, but they are so universal, I wear them with everything! I purchased the Talbots pair brand new with the original price sticker attached to the bottom.

For those of you who dread the closet overhaul, start now! Begin shopping for fall colors in lightweight fabrics…you will thank yourself (and this #ThriftyThursday!) later.

Best,

A
