#ThriftyThursday: My Bargaining Journey.

My bargaining journey began when I was in high school. I have always been one to want stylish and trendy outfits; however, my taste can be a bit on the expensive side. In my younger years, my Dad selflessly worked overtime to ensure that I had the “cool” UGG boots, Abercrombie jeans, and Hollister shirts.

My bargaining journey began as I got older, wiser, and more mature. I began to realize that almost everything I needed and more could be found at my local thrift stores for half the price!

When my mom and I started to drop by local thrift stores on the weekends, I fell in love with Goodwill and the quantity of items I could obtain for such a low price. Even if I had endless amounts of money, I would still choose to shop Goodwill. I simply love my bargains, the price tags, and supporting a good cause.

I put this outfit together from items I purchased at the Goodwill located in Somerset. The black and white polka dot Talbots top balances out the brightness of the fire engine red capris, which are New York and Company. The fabulous vintage earrings add the perfect finish to this $13 outfit! Thank you Goodwill for always making me feel like a million bucks!

Best,

our history

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Louisville since 1923. Goodwill gives people up—not a handout—so they can experience the dignity and independence that comes from earning a paycheck.

We help people with disabilities or other disadvantages achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life.

what we do

Goodwill collects and sells donated items to fund programs for Kentuckians who have disabilities or other challenges in finding and maintaining traditional employment.
