Trendy traditions: Bobbi Jo's good life
Sifting through the aisles for as long as she can remember, Bobbi Jo Knott is an experienced Goodwill donor and shopper.
“My mamaw, June, went Goodwill shopping for years, so that is where I purchased my clothes growing up,” Bobbi Jo said.
Bobbi Jo is from small-town Brandenburg, Ky. and despite the distance she has to travel, she is a dedicated Goodwill shopper.
“I go Goodwill shopping at least twice a month,” she said. Ordinarily, she arranges her bi-monthly trips as a family affair – her grandmother, June; mother, Debbie; twin sister, Betty Jo, and daughter, Jessica all go on the outings, scouting out their favorite Goodwill merchandise, clothing, and purses.
“I am always trying to find something nice that I can wear or carry to work at the bank,” explained Bobbi Jo. Two favorite purchases have been her mint-condition Vera Bradley tote bag and wallet.
Bobbi Jo and her sister also purchase baby blankets at a nearby Goodwill to cushion their dogs’ beds, an innovative DIY fix by the two life-long Goodwill supporters.
Taking her family through the store, Bobbi Jo’s shopping method is mainly a browsing strategy, but she promises that something always catches her eye—whether it’s a purse or an act of kindness.
“Once I saw two employees, one with a disability, helping each other put clothes on a rack. It is great that Goodwill exists.”
In her free time, Bobbi Jo enjoys traveling to the Taylorsville Road (Louisville) and New Circle (Lexington) locations—and I enjoy meeting up with her there! Bobbi Jo introduced Goodwill to me five years ago.
Bobbi, thanks for introducing me to “the good life” with Goodwill.
