Bold or subtle: details make the difference
It’s all in the details. My thrifting advice is to pay attention to detail. Whether you are searching for bold brands or creative designs, noticing the small things will give your closet a boost! I visited both the Ring Road and Dixie Highway locations (Elizabethtown), searching for business and casual wear. I practiced what I preached, and followed my own advice! With thrifted finds from both locations, I created two very different outfits. Let’s get down to business. I love

Harrodsburg's hospitality shown through hardwork
Having been raised in a small town, I appreciate back roads and genuine southern hospitality. In a recent visit to Goodwill’s Harrodsburg store, I found myself at home. My roommate and I took the short scenic drive from Lexington to Mercer County for a morning of Goodwill hunting. Upon stepping into the store’s front door, I was impressed. I glanced from top to bottom and noted the clean, spacious, and organized sales floor. As I walked up and down each individual aisle, I no

#ThriftyThursday: Good investments
#ThriftyThursday: It’s that time of year! Fall has officially arrived in Kentucky. The transition from season to season suggests an investment in fall clothing essentials. Once the leaves begin changing colors, I look forward to long-sleeves, cozy vests, and afternoons spent picking pumpkins. My fall style is comfortable and trendy with a focus on mixing and matching basic pieces. Last Sunday, I invested quality time at the Clays Mill store in Lexington. I added a navy Ralph

Georgetown Goodness
This past weekend I took an early Saturday morning adventure to Goodwill’s Georgetown location. My first-ever trip to this store was a huge hit. From home goods to fall clothing essentials, I was thoroughly impressed with the selection Georgetown offered. I left with a bag full, leaving me in sweater weather blues. I scored two Gap sweaters and a Pier 1 Imports mug. As a student at the University of Kentucky, blue is my go-to color. The texture and weight of these blue-shaded

Spread the sparkle.
Sparkle. A piece of advice I was given last week sparked a new outlook on life. A lady from my hometown complimented me on the outfit I was wearing at the time. Of course I was dressed head-to-toe in thrifty finds. After I gave my spiel of why I shop at Goodwill, she looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Never let anyone dull your sparkle.” Those six words have lingered in the back of mind. Friday, I attended Customer Appreciation Day at the Ring Road store in Elizabethto

#ThriftyThursday: Life's limes
#ThriftyThursday: When life gives you limes...wear a London Times ruffled dress! I found this sweet piece at the Radcliff location earlier this season. At first I was hesitant to consider wearing a straight dress in any shade of green. After a dressing room pep talk, I left the store with this unique find! When I sported the dress, I received many favorable comments. The ruffles have a personality that complement mine.
Just last week I discovered a matching pair of Lucky Br

#ThriftyThursday: Express yourself
#ThriftyThursday: Summer calls for looking as good as you feel! Whether you spend days out on the lake or in the office, summer is a time of mixing and matching fabrics, colors, and patterns. This Thursday, I went to the back of my closet and rediscovered a thrifty find I purchased at the Mapleleaf store in Lexington. A blouse with flowy sleeves and cinched waist has been trending for quite some time. I paired the timeless piece with Abercrombie & Fitch jeans for a clean look

#ThriftyThursday
#ThriftyThursday: I long for sweet tea in a mason jar and a day of front-porch sitting during this busy time of the year. Spring in Kentucky calls for a pallet of pastels and light linens as the first Saturday in May creeps upon us. I love everything spring brings – fresh flowers, ice cream with friends, a calendar of community activities, and motivation to revamp my closet. This spring I purchased pastel pieces I could wear to dinner with friends on weekdays, or front-porch
